The artistic activity performed with therapeutic purposes, is geared to correct and manage problems, both psychologically and emotionally as well as socially. Its purpose\u00a0exceeds the meaning of aesthetic result because the key in Art Therapy is the process used by the individual to contact his inwardness, given that art is used as a language of non-verbal communication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The focus of Art Therapy is on the creative process and not on the final artistic product. The\u00a0expression and creation is all that matters.\u00a0The fact of producing\u00a0a &#8220;creative trace&#8221; allows the individual to access his\u00a0most hidden and not externalized elements\u00a0and gives him the opportunity to strengthen his skills, often without\u00a0realizing it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The term \u00abArt Therapy Workshop&#8221; is usually used because it is based on a participatory methodology that one\u00a0learns experientially, on a specific project that requires teamwork. The definition of an Art Therapy workshop is based on its differentiation from\u00a0a simple art workshop, which simply broadcasts specific techniques, without\u00a0the term Therapy indicating a space of psychotherapy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tools of Art Therapy are the visual arts and the therapeutic element is the realization that through artistic creation oral communication, group cohesion, personal expression are promoted.\u00a0We try to run through the past, to understand the present and to project the future. Art Therapy appears like a way to symbolize through the creation of images. An autonomous space in its natural form, but also a field of personal internal space.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Participatory\u00a0Photography<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Participatory\u00a0photography is used by community developers and photographers as a\u00a0tool for engagement, advocacy, skill building and social innovation\u00a0in their work with disadvantaged and\u00a0marginalized communities.\u00a0\u00a0It recognizes that answers often lie within communities and that\u00a0photography is a way to tap underutilized assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Participatory\u00a0photography is a collaborative participatory methodology in which\u00a0participants are supported in generating their own photographic work\u00a0in order to share lived experiences and\u00a0present the world as they see\u00a0it. In doing so, individuals and communities gain tools and\u00a0opportunities to create knowledge, understanding and imagery about\u00a0the issues that are affecting\u00a0them. By creating alternatives to\u00a0mainstream modalities of expression, previously excluded individuals\u00a0are facilitated to speak, be heard and be seen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">This\u00a0methodology also enables\u00a0community participants to define how they\u00a0want to be represented to the outside world. Facilitating\u00a0individuals to tell their stories and to have control over that\u00a0process \u00a0enables them to\u00a0maintain firm ownership over their\u00a0representation. \u00a0Moving beyond stereotypes, it helps to convey a\u00a0fuller picture of the issues, challenges, opportunities, aspirations\u00a0and what it means to live\u00a0in their community.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>LTP &#8211; Literacy Through Photography<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Literacy Through Photography (LTP) is a teaching philosophy and methodology that encourages children to explore their world as they photograph scenes from their own lives and to use their images as catalysts for verbal and written expression. Framed around universal themes such as self-portrait, community, family, and dreams, LTP provides children and teachers with the expressive and investigative tools of photography and writing for use in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In connecting picture making with writing and critical thinking, LTP promotes an expansive use of photography across different curricula and disciplines, building on the information that students naturally possess. LTP also provides a valuable opportunity for students to bring their home and community lives into the classroom.
