{"id":4163,"date":"2025-09-02T09:47:42","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T07:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amaka.gr\/?post_type=post_projects&#038;p=4163"},"modified":"2025-12-03T14:37:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T12:37:35","slug":"touching-art-a-tactile-exploration-of-art","status":"publish","type":"post_projects","link":"https:\/\/www.amaka.gr\/en\/projects\/touching-art-a-tactile-exploration-of-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Touching Art | A tactile exploration of Art"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Touching Art<\/strong> aspires to create an example of how museums can be open and truly inclusive spaces for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Touching Art<\/strong> program is a new initiative by AMAKA Civil Non-Profit Company, in collaboration with the Basil &amp; Elise Goulandris Foundation, aiming to enhance the accessibility of audiences with visual impairment through a multi-sensory approach to the museum experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Active participation of people with visual impairment in the artistic process \u2014 in creating tactile artworks and in guiding tours \u2014 is at the core of our vision, as we explore equal access to culture through alternative means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creation of tactile, multi-sensory visual artworks based on \u0392&amp;\u0395 Gouladris Foundation\u2019s permanent Collection, on display at its Athens Museum. These works will be specially designed to be \u201cread\u201d through touch.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A multi-sensory temporary exhibition, accessible with a companion. The exhibition will include tactile works, a soundscape experience, audio description, and braille texts.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of a portable educational kit (museum-in-a-box) to facilitate access to materials both inside and outside the Museum.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guided tours and workshops at the B&amp;E Goulandris Foundation\u2019s Museum in Athens, combining exploration of the exhibits with artistic elaboration of the experience through adapted creative workshops.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training people with lived experience of blindness to become guides for the temporary exhibition.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research &amp; focus groups at the B&amp;E Goulandris Foundation\u2019s Museum in Athens, aimed at designing accessibility services in collaboration with people with experience of blindness, artists, and researchers.
