ART UNCUT – Strengthening Accessibility of people with disabilities in cultural institutions and Participation in artistic creation as a means for self-advocacy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ART UNCUT program aims to strengthen the accessibility of people with disabilities to Museums as cultural institutions and to promote active participation in artistic creation as a means for self-advocacy. The program is based on the previous project of AMAKA MOUSEIOSKEUES (funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, 2020) which fits within the framework of psychosocial rehabilitation and de-institutionalization via art therapy in Museums. International research highlights that access to Culture for people with disabilities in Greece is limited (Ramos, 2016; Bardini, 2017; Barn\u00e9s & Jim\u00e9nez, 2020) although it is considered a universal Human Right (United Nations, 1948).<\/span><\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The objectives of the program are<\/span><\/p>\n

a) to ensure freedom of expression and promotion of art,<\/span><\/p>\n

b) to beat stereotypes and discrimination around disability and mental illness through artistic creation,<\/span><\/p>\n

c) to promote the cultural expression of disabled people through innovative actions.<\/span><\/p>\n

d) to promote active participation and social integration of people with disabilities in <\/span>art and culture,<\/span><\/p>\n

e) to encourage networking and cooperation of cultural and <\/span>social institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The expected results are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Art workshops, Artistic creation, Collaborations between artists with psychiatric disorders\/disabilities and Museums in Athens and Thessaloniki<\/span><\/p>\n
