Danae Sakellari is an artist and a member of AMAKA’s research/creation team for Museum accessibility through tactile artworks. She has worked on the multisensory museum accessibility program for people with blindness at the InART Athens Municipal Gallery, implemented by AMAKA. Danae is a costume designer and visual artist. After studying Psychology at the University of Reading (UK) and completing her postgraduate degree in Industrial Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK), she returned to Greece. She became extensively involved in painting and participated in the creation of scenic elements for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. She later moved to New York, where she lived for seven years. While completing her studies in Costume Design at Parsons School of Design, she also engaged in set design. She worked at SOTU Productions, taking on the design and production of scenic elements and costumes for major productions (Detroit Institute of Arts, Meatpacking Festival N.Y., Casino Opening 2009, etc.), as well as working in film as a freelancer.
