AMAKA participates in the Erasmus+ program “Incorporating Therapeutic Practices into Language Education for Refugees, Asylum-Seeking and Socially Excluded Adult Learners” (KA210-ADU).
This program aims to enhance the skills of language educators and support refugees and asylum seekers by incorporating therapeutic practices into language education. The program is implemented in collaboration with three organizations: Everest Language School from Ireland, AMAKA from Greece, and Integrační centrum Praha (ICP) from the Czech Republic. Together, they aim to create a comprehensive educational program that combines language learning with art therapy-informed techniques.

Program Objectives
• Enhance the skills of language educators so that they can integrate therapeutic practices into the teaching of refugees and asylum seekers.
• Develop an educational program that combines language education with art therapy and other therapeutic approaches.
• Create educational materials and a guide for integrating these practices into teaching.

Activities
• Study visits:

  1. Study Visit to Prague, to observe teaching practices and collect feedback.
  2. Study Visit to Greece, to explore the integration of art therapy-informed techniques into language education.
    • Development of an 8-week curriculum.
    • A 2-week pilot training seminar for educators from Greece, the Czech Republic, and Ireland.

Expected Outcomes
• Creation of a comprehensive educational syllabus that integrates language teaching with art therapy-informed techniques.
• Improved ability of educators to support refugees and asylum seekers.
• Development of a guide and educational materials that will be made available for broader use by organizations working with vulnerable groups.
• Contribution to the creation of a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The project seeks to create a comprehensive training program for educators that combines language teaching with therapeutic techniques. Through this, educators will be better prepared to support vulnerable students, enhancing teaching effectiveness and reducing the likelihood of drop-out. Simultaneously, a network of professionals will be developed to promote this approach in various educational settings. The program is expected to contribute to the creation of a dynamic community of educators and organizations that will promote therapeutic practices in language education, enhancing social inclusion and supporting refugees at the European level.

With the support of the ERASMUS+ of the European Union and is coordinated by Everest Language School.

The Prague X Integration Centre project, registration number CZ.12.01.02/00/23_008/0000007, is co-financed by the European Union and from the budget of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic.
